Abstract

As Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies become more prevalent, they are being increasingly utilized in artistic installations in order to offer participants a more immersive spatial experience. Such installations typically focus on the experience of individual users. Nevertheless, shared co-located experiences with multiple users are becoming more common. Making participants aware of each other and facilitating interaction between them in such virtual environments can be quite challenging, particularly considering the technical limitations that still exist despite the advent of new technologies. This paper presents a few different animation strategies based on participants’ physical movements in three mixed-reality installations.
