Abstract
This research proposes a mixed-reality shopping system to assist disadvantaged shoppers. Using a smartwatch as a controller, the user can move freely around the store while viewing the panoramic photo image of the store displayed on a head mounted display (HMD). Products can be selected and freely viewed from any angle by tapping the smartwatch. Furthermore, by utilizing a photo-based augmented reality (Photo AR) system, the product can be displayed as if it were in the hands of the user. This system is developed and user evaluations are carried out. Evaluation results verify that the proposed system with layaway service will be in high demand.
