Abstract

The first publication of the EU-Erasmus+ project “AR4STE(A)M” is the Augmented Reality Compendium – a compilation of suitable game-based AR (Augmented Reality Applications) apps and technologies for MINT (Mathematics, Computer Science, Science, Art and Technology) teaching. The digitally available compendium aims to present the most relevant AR learning practices from 6 EU countries (Belgium, Germany, Cyprus/Greece, Italy, Netherlands & Turkey). With the help of these examples, which will be used in the classroom, the aim is to increase students’ involvement in and enjoyment of MIN(K)T teaching in the partner countries. This short summary of the compendium gives an overview of the selected examples of existing Augmented Reality (AR) games and AR technologies on the basis of which game-based learning activities (GBL-Game-Based Learning) can be developed in MINT lessons in upper secondary schools. The publication is divided into three chapters. The introductory chapter presents the general and specific objectives of the project; the second chapter is devoted to the most important definitions related to AR; the third and final chapter is the “heart” of the compendium. It introduces AR-based games and AR technologies and gives examples of application of game-based learning activities in MINT classes in the 6 EU partner countries. Further details on the pedagogical and technical methods used and the possible learning outcomes of AR activities are also given by way of examples.
