Abstract

The high dynamic range, wide-angle, and high-resolution technologies provide the more advanced experiences, such as 360 virtual reality (VR) streaming content. However, increasing streaming content challenges the traditional delivery systems, requiring higher bitrates and more efficient video codecs. This paper presents the motion-constrained AV1 encoder for a 360 VR streaming application. We implement the AV1 encoder with restricted motion range and AV1 encoding features, which is not compatible with tiled streaming.
