PDF: A Hardware-Oriented Fast Foveated Rendering Algorithm for Mobile Real-Time Ray Tracing
Abstract
VR applications inevitably need to adapt high performance computing to allow usability without users inconveniences. In this paper we introduce a hardware oriented fast algorithm for foveated rendering in mobile real time ray tracing hardware. For this purpose, a selective dithered rendering method is used for peripheral and blend region to compensate for the degradation of image quality. The proposed algorithm can improve the rendering performance with reducing the penalty for cognitive factors. The experimental results show its performance improvement by decreasing the number of pixels rendered with average PSNR values.
