Abstract
Mixed reality collaborative environments connect physical and virtual worlds to present an integrated collaborative space for remote and co-located collaborators. We designed an immersive mixed reality environment using Unity 3D1 and an Oculus Rift2head-mounted display. We are using virtual arm embodiments to visualize the remote collaborator’s arms on the physical tabletop [introduce the fact that people are collaborating around a tabletop first] while s/he is interacting with the virtual tabletop. We will conduct a study examining the impact of our immersive virtual collaborative environment on presence disparity and group awareness of collaborators in the virtually connected space.
