Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel way to illustrate human anatomy by combining virtual and augmented reality display technologies. Our intention is to create an anatomy gallery, which blends real world anatomy specimens, in the form of 3D printed models, with virtual reality scenes, and use augmented reality technology to seamlessly move between these different modalities. Hand gesture interfaces are used to navigate and interact with the elements displayed in VR and in real. The project introduced here serves as a first step towards a multi-user, distributed exploration environment to experience, teach and learn about human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology.
